Dead dolphin washed ashore off St Davids coast

This is how we all like to see dolphins and indeed how we usually come across them – they simply come and join us in open water when they feel like it, bow riding or playing in the wake.

However, today a small dead dolphin with a large laceration on its back was washed in to the harbour at St Justinian.

It’s very rare that we come across injured or dead dolphins around here but it did rather sadden everyone’s day.

The Wales cetacean strandings officer collected the body so at some point we may learn how it died but of course it may not be possible to tell.
